Bass Invitational Tournament Rules

Tournament date: April 25, 2020

Rules

  1. Qualifying Areas: All of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries as permitted by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
  2. Eligible Fish: Bass (Max 5 Bass per boat) 15" in length. Fish will be measured from tip of closed mouth to furthest point of fanned tail. Only Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted, Redeye or Shoal bass will be weighed.
  3. Fishing Hours: Safe Light launch until 4:00pm on April 25, 2020.
  4. Max 2 participants per boat. Captain and Co-angler. This does not include videographer or camera crew.
  5. All participating boats must have a working livewell to hold the qualifying fish. All live wells will be checked by a tournament representative prior to departure.
  6. All boats must leave from Tiki Lees Dock Bar. All registered boats are required to be at Tiki Lees Dock Bar for boat check by 5:15am / Prior to launch.
  7. Winners is the total weight of maximum 5 qualifying Bass. Tie breaker will be based on heaviest fish.
  8. Tournament officials reserve the right to refuse entry to any person or team.
  9. Scales will not be open prior to 4:00pm.
  10. All fish must be caught on hook and line.
  11. The use of grippers in landing bass is prohibited.
  12. Dead Fish: All fish weighed in dead will be subjected to a 4oz deduction in weight.
  13. Any fish weighed in short (meaning under 15"), the fish will be disqualified.
  14. Any changes or substitutions to the crew (Captain/Co-Angler) must be finalized at the Captain's meeting.
  15. No competitor may buy or barter a fishing location from any other competitor for use during the competition.
  16. Chumming, live bait and/or use of eels are not permitted. All legal hook and line fishing methods are permitted. No live bait allowed.
  17. All Captains and Co-anglers must fill out a release form for a lie detector test prior to departure.
  18. All winners will be subjected to a lie detector test.
  19. All Anglers must check in with check-in boat or table. Please throw your ball in the net at the check-in boat.
  20. After competitors check-in at the official checkpoint they must present all legal fish in their possession to a tournament official to be counted, measured and weighed. Tournament standings, auxiliary awards and final winners shall be determined by the pound-and-hundredths of an ounce weight of each competitor’s catch during the competition. Only when a boat’s competitor’s catch is counted, measured, weighed and verified by a tournament official may the competitor/competitors return to the boat.
  21. Mechanical Breakdown: Your boat’s condition, electronics and efficiency are equally as important as your fishing skills. All boats/teams are responsible for getting their fish to the weigh in station, even if towed, aboard another tournament boat or a back-up boat is used (if a back-up boat is used, the boat must be checked prior to using it or transferring fish). No boats can be trailered at any point after fishing begins.
  22. Any boat may be boarded by tournament representative(s) for thorough inspection of fishing boxes, bilges, containers and compartments.
  23. Any fish entered in the tournament is subjected to disqualification if the judges decide it bears suspicious marks or characteristics. All decisions by the judges are final.
  24. Safety: All participants and guests of participants are responsible for their own personal safety and security of their personal property and expressly assume any and all risks to their personal safety and well-being. By electing to participate in Tiki Lee’s Bass Invitational, all participants agree to, and grant their release of liability and shall not be permitted to withdraw or disavow that release of liability.
  25. Late Penalty: Competitors who are not in the official checkpoint area at the appointed time shall be penalized at the rate of one pound per minute late, to be deducted from the total weight of the day's catch. That weight will be deducted starting from the largest fish down. Any competitor more than 15 minutes late shall lose all credit for the catch. There shall be no excuse for tardiness, and in no case shall a competitor be allowed to make up “lost time”.
  26. Weather: The tournament does not provide a weather committee and it’s a Captain’s choice tournament. However, the tournament reserves the right to cancel the tournament due to unfishable weather conditions.
  27. Prizes: One prize per boat for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. Excluding Calcutta.
  28. All captains will be provided an official weigh-in bag. Please do not bring your fish to the scales or weigh-in line until directed to by a tournament official.
  29. Refund Policy: There is no refund on paid entries unless the tournament is canceled by the tournament committee.
